Russia Foils Female Terrorist Plotmasterminded by Ukraine
Four women, suspected of being recruited by Ukrainian intelligence, have been arrested in Russia for plotting terrorist attacks against high-ranking Russian military officers and critical energy infrastructure. The Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed the foiled operation on Friday.
The suspects, based in Sevastopol, Voronezh, and Rostov-on-Don, were allegedly trained in Ukraine to use firearms, handle explosives, operate UAVs, and evade surveillance. They were preparing attacks against Russian Defense Ministry officers and government officials, with one woman tasked with infiltrating a Russian volunteer unit to assassinate its commander.
The FSB seized a significant amount of explosive materials, chemicals for making explosives, detonators, and IED manuals during raids on the suspects’ homes. The women have been charged with terrorism, facing up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
In confessions aired by the FSB, the women revealed they were paid in cryptocurrency by their Ukrainian handlers from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). They were promised eventual evacuation to Western Europe or Ukraine for a better life.
The suspects confessed to plotting acts of terrorism and sabotage, with ongoing investigations to identify any accomplices. This incident adds to growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both countries accusing each other of provocations and interference.
