Prime Minister Launches $150-Acre Pathogen Economy Park

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has taken a significant step towards advancing scientific research in Uganda by launching the construction of a 150-acre Pathogen Economy Bioscience Park. The project, located at the NEC T6 Industrial and Business Park in Katuugo, Nakasongola District, aims to foster innovation and development in the field of biosciences.

The land for this ambitious project was initially owned by the Katuugo Training Centre. It was later transferred to the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) for agricultural use but has now been repurposed to support bio-scientific endeavors. This shift reflects the government’s commitment to diversifying its economic strategies and enhancing scientific capabilities.

The Pathogen Economy Bioscience Park is expected to serve as a hub for researchers, scientists, and industries focused on pathogen-related studies and biotechnology. By providing state-of-the-art facilities and resources, the park will play a crucial role in driving Uganda’s progress in this critical area of science.

This initiative not only strengthens Uganda’s position in the global scientific community but also creates opportunities for local talent to contribute to groundbreaking research. The launch of this bioscience park is a testament to the government’s vision for a future where science and technology drive economic growth and development.

As construction begins, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential impact of this project on both national and international scales. It represents a bold move towards creating a sustainable and innovative economy built on scientific excellence.
