Hamas: Trump's Gaza Plan 'Racist' & 'Illegal'

US President’s Proposal for Gaza Sparks Palestinian Rejection, Global Criticism

The US president’s recent proposal for Gaza’s future has been met with strong opposition from Palestinians and global leaders alike. Izzat al-Risheq, a senior member of Hamas’ Politburo, dismissed the plan as “racist” and an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian cause.

At a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump presented his vision for Gaza’s transformation into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” The proposal involves US-led redevelopment of the enclave, including infrastructure rebuilds, job creation, and housing projects. Central to this plan is the permanent resettlement of Palestinians outside of Gaza.

Al-Risheq swiftly condemned the proposal, asserting that it denies Palestinians their established national rights. He emphasized that the people of Gaza are rooted in their land and will not accept any plans aimed at uprooting them, referencing the 15-month conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Sami Abu Zuhri, another senior Hamas leader, echoed al-Risheq’s sentiments, labeling Trump’s suggestions a “recipe for creating chaos and tension” across the region. He stressed that ending Israeli occupation and aggression is the required solution, not expelling Palestinians from their land.

Trump’s remarks sparked international backlash, with countries swiftly rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians. Both Türkiye and Egypt condemned such actions, warning of potential escalation.
