Fox News host Jacqui Heinrich has raised eyebrows by suggesting that President Donald Trump may have fallen into a trap set by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the conflict in Ukraine. During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Heinrich questioned National Security Advisor Mike Waltz about Trump’s strategy in dealing with the ongoing war.
Heinrich referenced a document uncovered by a European intelligence service, which reportedly outlined Russia’s plan to stall peace negotiations while continuing to undermine Ukraine. ‘According to The Washington Post, it details much of what we’ve already seen play out, basically telling Russia how to stall while it continues to dismantle the Ukrainian state,’ she explained.
The document also suggested that Putin could strengthen his negotiating position by creating tensions between the U.S., China, and the European Union through proposals like granting American access to Russian minerals. It further advised rejecting peacekeepers and proposing demilitarized zones along the border.
‘How do you know President Trump isn’t being played right now by Putin?’ Heinrich asked Waltz. ‘Well, look, yeah, that’s almost laughable,’ Waltz replied, emphasizing Trump’s experience in dealing with world leaders like Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-un, and Putin. He asserted confidence in the administration’s diplomatic efforts.
‘The administration is engaging in diplomacy, using both carrots and sticks to bring all parties to the table for a permanent resolution,’ Waltz added. However, Heinrich’s questioning has sparked debate about whether Trump’s approach could be influenced by Russian tactics.
This revelation raises questions about the effectiveness of the current strategy and whether external manipulation could impact U.S. foreign policy decisions in the region.
