The East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have intensified their efforts to tackle the worsening security situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Both regional blocs have called for an immediate ceasefire, increased humanitarian aid, and stronger diplomatic engagement to resolve the crisis. Speaking at a press conference in Kampala, Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the urgency of addressing the conflict, emphasizing the need for collective action to restore stability in the region. The joint initiative reflects growing concerns over security threats in the area, which have prompted increased collaboration between EAC and SADC member states. Efforts are focused on facilitating peace talks and providing much-needed assistance to affected populations. This coordinated approach aims to curb violence and foster a sustainable resolution to the ongoing conflict.
