Bombardier Plane Crashes into Potomac After Midair Collision

A horrifying incident occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Wednesday evening when a regional passenger plane collided midair with a US military helicopter. The collision resulted in the Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft crashing into the Potomac River.

The civilian plane, operated by PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, was approaching DCA from Kansas City at around 9 PM local time. It collided with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter belonging to the US Army. Sixty passengers and four crew members were on board the commercial aircraft, while the military helicopter had a crew of three.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident, suspending all flights from DCA and launching a large-scale search and rescue operation. The number of fatalities remains uncertain as emergency personnel continue their efforts to find possible survivors.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the US Coast Guard was deploying all available resources for search and rescue operations in response to this “horrific incident” at DCA.

President Donald Trump has been briefed about the incident, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. She expressed the administration’s thoughts and prayers for those involved and urged the public to follow law enforcement guidance regarding the situation.
