Holocaust Museum Chief Clashes with Musk Over AfD Stance

Elon Musk’s Remarks on German Guilt Spark Controversy

The chairman of Israel’s Holocaust museum, Dani Dayan, has condemned Elon Musk for his comments supporting Germany’s right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and urging Germans not to focus on past guilt. Speaking at an AfD campaign event ahead of the upcoming snap parliamentary elections, Musk argued that children should not bear the guilt of their ancestors’ sins.

Dayan, in a post on X, countered that remembering and acknowledging Germany’s dark past is crucial for shaping society and respecting the victims of Nazism. He warned that failing to do so poses a threat to Germany’s democratic future.

While some AfD members have made controversial statements regarding Germany’s history under Hitler, party leaders deny any Nazi affiliations. Musk has publicly endorsed AfD, praising its anti-immigration policies and hosting an event with its co-leader on his X platform.

Musk previously faced criticism for a gesture during US President Donald Trump’s inauguration that some interpreted as a Nazi salute.
